Description: Kilkenny Castle in south-east Ireland is a 12th century castle once owned by the Butler family, one of the most powerful dynasties in Ireland. In 1967, the 6th Marquess and the 24th Earl of Ormond, sold the castle to the restoration committee for L50. It is now one of the most popular visitor attractions in the region. The 2008 Kilkenny Castle Plate is a limited edition of 2,000 pieces. Each plate features a special back stamp denoting its year of issue and is individually numbered.
